DESCRIPTION:The Scituate Shellfish Advisory Committee will host a presentation by the Mass Division of Marine Fisheries Shellfish Division on the potential for reopening a portion of the 600-plus acres of recreationally harvested shellfish beds in the North and South Rivers. The shellfish beds have been closed to recreational harvest since 2020 due to a change in regulations that require closing areas surrounding wastewater discharges based on dilution rates to comply with the National Shellfish Sanitation Program which allows for the commercial sale of shellfish.
